BOSTON - The No. 17 Boston University field hockey team welcomes fourth-ranked Duke to New Balance Field on Sunday (Oct. 11) in the final non-conference home contest of the 2015 season. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
The Terriers have won six of their past seven contests and bring a three-game win streak into Sunday's tilt. On Friday, the Terriers remained undefeated in Patriot League play with a 6-1 triumph at Holy Cross in the first-ever game of the Turnpike Trophy rivalry series.
Against the Crusaders, freshman Ally Hammel recorded a first-half hat trick, sophomore Grace Boston added two goals, junior Amanda Cassera scored and junior Bea Baumberger Altirriba had a pair of assists.
Duke has reeled off five straight wins to move into the top five of the national rankings. On Friday, the Blue Devils earned a 2-1 comeback win at No. 10 Boston College.
The Blue Devils are led offensively by sophomore Ashley Kristen and junior Heather Morris. Kristen has 19 points on five goals and nine assists while Morris is right behind with 18 points on the strength of team-best seven goals.
Redshirt senior Lauren Blazing has started all 12 games in goals and has a 1.33 goals-against average and a .781 save percentage.
For the Terriers, Baumberger Altirriba leads all Patriot League players in points (20) and assists (10). Classmate Hester van der Laan has 16 points on six goals and four assists while senior Sofi Laurito and Hammel have each contributed six goals and an assist. Four other Terriers have at least three goals this season.
In the BU goal, junior Cammy Jensen sports a 1.88 goals-against average and a .652 save percentage.
Duke has won nine straight meetings between the two schools after BU was victorious in the first two.
