Dalton Inducted Into US Lacrosse VT HOF

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - Three-time All-American Sarah Dalton added to her accolades this weekend as she was inducted into the US Lacrosse Vermont Chapter Hall of Fame on Sunday evening.
Dalton is arguably the best offensive player to ever wear the Scarlet and White and she has left her mark in both the Terrier and NCAA record books. The Cornwall, Vt. native is the all-time scoring leader at Boston University, totaling 284 points including 247 goals throughout her career.
“I loved watching Sarah play the game, it was (and still is) an amazing combination of grace and power, fluidity and precision, speed and composure, all wrapped up in one of the most genuine people I have had the privilege to coach,” BU head coach Liz Robertshaw said. “It’s easy to look up stats and record books to see that Sarah had a tremendous impact on our team, but her presence here was so much more than putting up points or gathering All-Conference and All-America accolades. She changed the way BU Lacrosse looked to the outside world, she made us a team that opponents hated to play because they didn’t know how to stop her.”
Her senior season was one for the books, however, as she had the most offensive output of any NCAA player, not just in 2009, but in the last 21 years. Her 91 goals that year still stands as the fifth-most ever scored by a single player in one season in NCAA history and she was, and still is, the first person to eclipse the 90-goal mark since 1996.
“In her senior season, Sarah led the nation in goal scoring per game, but what was even more impressive than 91 goals was the fact that her shooting percentage was 65 percent-a mark almost unheard of for a leading player in the women’s game,” Robertshaw said. “She worked and committed herself to a standard of play that set the bar for every BU lacrosse player to be measured against when it comes to attacking—that’s leaving a legacy.”
Dalton now works as an assistant coach at Notre Dame where she has helped lead the Fighting Irish to three NCAA Tournament appearances and success in the ACC.
