
Terriers Face #15 Loyola In Patriot League Semifinal

FRIDAY'S GAMES
• The Terriers defeated No. 5 Lehigh to advance to the Patriot League Semifinals against No. 1 seed Loyola Maryland on Friday.
• As the regular season champions, the Greyhounds are the host of the Patriot League Championships. The Terriers will face No. 16/15 Loyola at 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon at the Ridley Athletics Complex.
• No. 2 Colgate and No. 3 Navy are set to play their semifinal game at 7:30 p.m. following BU's matchup. The winners of both games will square off in the Patriot League title game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
BU IN PATRIOT LEAGUE TOURNAMENTS
• The Terriers have played in four Patriot League postseason games so far in their second year in the conference.
• During both seasons, BU has defeated Lehigh in the quarterfinal round on Nickerson Field.
• Last season, as the No. 3 seed, the Terriers upset No. 2 Navy during the semifinal round to advance to the title game during their first season in the conference.
• The seeding held true in the championship round, however, as top-seeded Loyola came away with an 18-7 victory.
TERRIER POSTSEASONS
• BU is 25-18 all-time in postseason contests and an impressive 23-7 in conference tournament games.
• The Terriers have made it to the NCAA Tournament on eight occasions and hold a 3-8 record during those games.
• Boston University has not missed a postseason it has been eligible for the last 17 seasons.
ALL-PATRIOT LEAGUE HONORS
• Five Terriers were honored with All-Patriot League accolades following the conclusion of the regular season.
• Jill Horka was the lone BU player named to the All-PL First Team while Mallory Collins, Caroline Meegan and Siobhan McCarthy earned spots on the second team. Horka was also named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team at the start of the season.
• Taylor Hardison was one of 12 women's lacrosse student-athletes named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, which represented eight member schools.
HORKA IN THE RECORD BOOKS
• Originally cracking the top-10 in career draw controls against Lehigh on April 4, junior Jill Horka has moved up to fifth all-time with 137 career grabs.
• During the Patriot League Quarterfinal, also against the Mountain Hawks, Horka etched her name in the BU record book again, setting a new season standard of 60 draw controls and she has at least two more contests to improve the tally.
• The top-five in career draw controls stands at:
1. Sarah Dalton - 191 ('06-09)
2. Lauren Morton - 182 ('05-08)
3. Danielle Etrasco - 157 ('10-13)
4. Alyssa Trudel - 142 ('02-05)
5. Jill Horka - 137 ('13-16)
TERRIER TIDBITS
• Mallory Collins tallied her 100th career goal on Saturday with her first-half strike at Bucknell. Earlier this season she surpassed 100 career points against Navy and is currently the only active player to reach that benchmark.
• With two goals against Lehigh, junior Ally Adams surpassed 50 career points. She is now one of four active players with 50 or more points. Horka also reached that benchmark earlier this season, recording an assist against Massachusetts to reach 50 career points.
• After making it to the PL Championship Game last season, the Terriers were again picked to finish third in the conference this season. BU was a No. 3 seed in the tournament with the 3rd-best regular season record (5-3).
• Senior Lindsay Weiner, a 2014 All-League Second Team selection, was named a captain along with classmate Siobhan McCarthy. Weiner was last year's point and assist leader, totaling 42 points including 20 assists, the only Terrier to reach double-digit helpers last season.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
• The top team in the conference and the 15th-best team in the country, Loyola brings one of the most prolific offenses the Terriers face this season. The Greyhounds average 12.5 goals per game and have the 17th-best win percentage in the country.
• Loyola also boasts one of the best defenses in the country, ranking seventh in save percentage. The Greyhound goalies stop 49.0 percent of the shots they face and allow just over eight goals per game.
• Annie Thomas leads the Greyhounds with 68 points (10th nationally), which includes 41 assists, the third-most of any Division I player.
• Kara Burke leads the team with 43 goals, which ranks third in the conference while Hannah Schmitt is right behind her with 42 goals on the year.
• Molly Wolf leads the Patriot League in save percentage with a .498 average, which ranks seventh nationally. She allows just 7.71 goals per game, which ranks second in the league.
BU VS. LOYOLA MARYLAND
• The Terriers are 2-5 all-time against Loyola, most recently dropping a 9-6 decision to the Greyhounds earlier this year.
• Loyola is currently on a three-game win streak against the Terriers, spanning the last two seasons.
