
Terrier Trio Earns NFHCA All-Region Honors

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Region squads were announced on Tuesday and three Boston University seniors were among the 160 student-athletes honored across the five regions.
Tri-captains Ellie Landsman and Hester van der Laan were named to the All-Northeast Region First Team while Taylor Blood earned second-team honors. BU led all Patriot League schools with three honorees.
This marks the third straight season that van der Laan earned a spot on the first team, becoming just the seventh Terrier to achieve that feat. Jacinda McLeod '13, Sarah Shute '08, Pam Spuehler '08, Robyn Kenney '01, Tamarah Klein '90 and Sally Maxwell '90 were the others.
Blood is on the All-Region Second Team for the second time in as many season and this marked the first regional accolade for Landsman.
All three were previously named to the All-Patriot League First Team with van der Laan and Landsman being tabbed the league's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively
A standout in the midfield, van der Laan was the fourth Terrier to earn all-conference honors four times and was a three-time All-PL First Team honoree. She put together a 7-5--19 scoring line for the second consecutive year and finished her stellar career with 68 points on 25 goals and 18 assists in 81 games.
Landsman developed into one of the top defensive midfielders in the nation, dictating play for the Terriers and helping them hold significant advantages in possession. A four-year starter, Landsman was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18 and played in this year's NFHCA Senior Game.
Blood, a two-time All-Patriot League honoree, put together a strong season up front for the Terriers. She tied for first among Patriot League players in assists this season with seven and totaled four goals for a total of 15 points. Blood led the Terriers in shots this season with 40 and put up 47 points (16g, 15a) in her career.
