
Gonzaga Defeats Women's Tennis, 6-1

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Kicking off a three-match spring break trip in California, the Boston University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Gonzaga.
The Bulldogs (7-1) won two doubles matches for the first point and then claimed five singles points with two of them coming by way of three sets. Gonzaga won tiebreakers in two other matches, as the Terriers fell to 4-5.
Sophomore Iryna Kostirko led BU with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 singles slot. Freshmen Sabrina Faybyshev (#3) and Remi Ramos (#4) both won a set in their respective match but came up just short.
Senior Lauren Davis battled Gonzaga's Sophie Whittle in a two-set thriller with the Bulldog escaping, 7-6(5), 7-6(5). Junior Barbara Rodriguez (#6) was also edged in a tiebreaker at line 6 in a 6-3, 7-6(5) defeat.
The Terriers will next face Liberty on Tuesday (March 8) at 4 p.m. ET in Palm Springs, Calif.
