April 14, 2016 | Women's Lacrosse
BOSTON - Former BU women’s lacrosse player Danielle Etrasco was a part of sports history on Wednesday night as the 28th pick in the inaugural United Women’s Lacrosse Draft, the first-ever professional league in existence.
A member of the United States National Team for the last three years, Etrasco adds professional athlete to her long list of accolades as one of the 10 founding members of the Boston Storm.
“I’m excited for Danielle to have this opportunity to play professionally with the newly formed United Women’s Lacrosse League,” head coach Liz Robertshaw said. “She’s proven herself on the collegiate scene as an All-American while here at BU. She did it again on the international scene winning a gold medal in the World Cup with the U. S. National Team, and now has the chance to showcase her game to the next generation of girls lacrosse players in the pro-league, which is simply awesome! Danielle being drafted last night proves that with hard work, solid fundamentals and belief you can accomplish anything, and I’m very proud that the BU Women’s Lacrosse program had a hand in helping her achieve her goals.”
In the winter prior to her senior season, Etrasco, a two-time All-American, became the first-ever Terrier to make the U.S. National Team’s final roster.
The three-time America East First Team All-Conference honoree finished second all-time in school history with 248 points. She also ranks second in goals (192) while her 157 draw controls are fourth all-time for the Terriers.
