
BU Celebrates Seniors Against Army West Point

SATURDAY’S GAME
• The Terriers celebrate the 2016 senior class and close the regular season on Saturday afternoon against Army West Point on Nickerson Field.
• Game time is set for 1 p.m. and will air live on the Patriot League Network.
• With the Black Knights playing their first season of varsity women’s lacrosse, Saturday begins BU’s series with Army West Point.
TERRIER TIDBITS
• Ally Adams and Mickenzie Larivee lead the team in points this season with 36 each. Adams has 26 goals and 10 assists while Larivee leads the team in goals with 30 so far this season. Taylor Hardison has the most assists, dishing out 26 in 2016.
• Jill Horka leads the team in draw controls after grabbing four or more in eight of the last 12 games. After setting a new season standard in the category last year (68), Horka has 63 so far in 2016 and took over as the BU all-time leader against Lehigh.
• Four Terriers have 30 or more points so far this season, including Adams (36), Larivee (36), Collins (33) and Hardison (31).
• After making it to the PL Championship semifinal round last season, the Terriers were again picked to finish third in the conference this season. BU was a No. 4 seed in the tournament with the 4th-best regular season record (5-3).
• BU returns six of BU’s seven top-scorers including Collins, who led the team with 40 points (38g, 2a) last season.
• All 7 seniors were picked as captains this season after deciding as a class that they all wanted to take on the leadership role.
BU IN PATRIOT LEAGUE STANDINGS
• Overall the Terriers are currently ranked fourth in the league with a Patriot League record of 5-3 and has clinched a spot in the conference tournament.
• In the statistical standings, BU ranks second in goals (11.53) assists (5.53) and in points (17.07) per game. The Terriers also lead the conference in shots per game (30.0) and rank second in shots on goal per game (20.67), leading to one of the most aggressive attacking team in the conference.
• Defensively, BU leads the conference in saves per game, making 9.87 on average each contest. This is thanks to Caroline Meegan, who currently leads the conference in save percentage (.515) and leads the league by a mile with 10.08 saves per game.
• BU’s strength on attack comes from its variety of scorers, as the highest-ranking Terrier in goals per game is Mickenzie Larivee, who is tied for eighth with an average 2.0 per game. No one on BU ranks in the top-10 in points per game.
• With 63 already this season, Jill Horka ranks second in the conference in draw controls, averaging 4.2 per game. She also ranks third in the Patriot League in caused turnovers with 1.67 per game this year.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
• In their first season as a varsity program, Army West Point currently has a record of 5-10 but is still looking for their first win in conference play.
• As a team, the Black Knights average 8.7 goals per game while allowing 11.5 from their opponents. While they only average 18.8 shots per game, 76 percent of those get to cage.
• Amy Johnston leads the team in goals and points with 23 and 36, respectively. Four different Black Knights have 20 or more points on the season including Rachel Hornick who has 22 goals so far this season.
• Kayla Rowley has started every game in net this season and has an 11.49 goals against average and .368 save percentage.
THE PATRIOT LEAGUE PICTURE
• With a win over Holy Cross on Wednesday night, the Terriers secured a spot in the Patriot League Tournament. A win on Saturday would ensure a home game for the quarterfinal round.
• With two games left to play, Loyola Maryland has already clinched the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will have at least a share of the Patriot League Regular Season title. The Greyhounds will host the semifinal and championship rounds on May 6 & 8.
• BU’s toughest conference opponents are behind them as the Terriers have 10th-ranked Army West Point left to play.
• Four of the six spots in the tournament have been claimed as Loyola, Navy, Lehigh and BU have already posted records good enough to reach the postseason. Colgate and Bucknell are one win away from sealing up their spots in the tournament.
HORKA BECOMES ALL-TIME DRAW CONTROL LEADER
• After setting the BU season record last season, senior midfielder Jill Horka surpassed Sarah Dalton ’09 to become the all-time draw control leader with 208 grabs and counting.
• The Westborough, Mass. native originally cracked the top-10 last year against Lehigh during the regular season and surpassed the previous season record against the Mountain Hawks when the teams met again in the PL Tournament.
• Horka grabbed two draw controls against Lehigh this season to surpass Dalton and has at least two more games to increase that number. Her total currently ranks fifth in the Patriot League record book and, with an average of 4.2 per game, is on track to move up to third all-time by the end of the regular season. The conference record currently stands at 493.
