
Terriers Host Bucknell For PL Quarterfinals

TUESDAY'S GAME
• The No. 3 seed Terriers host No. 6 Bucknell for the Patriot League Quarterfinal round on Tuesday, May 3 at 4 p.m. on Nickerson Field.
• The game will air live on the Patriot League Network. The winner of this game will advance to the PL semifinal round, hosted by Loyola Maryland on Friday, May 6.
TERRIER TIDBITS
• Mallory Collins leads the team with 38 points after a five-goal game in the regular season finale against Army West Point. She also leads the Terriers in goals with 32 so far this year.
• With 31 assists so far this season, Taylor Hardison ranks 11th among all Division I players and leads the Patriot League in total assists.
• Caroline Meegan also ranks at the top of the NCAA as one of the best goalies in the country. She ranks eighth in saves per game (9.62) and 10th in save percentage (.517) nationally.
• Jill Horka ranks 17th nationally with an average of 4.38 draw controls per game. With 70 so far this season, the senior re-set her own BU season record against Army West Point after setting the BU career record earlier this season. She now has 215 career draw controls and counting.
• Four Terriers have 30 or more points so far this season, including Collins (38), Adams (37), Larivee (36) and Hardison (36).
• After making it to the PL Championship semifinal round last season, the Terriers were again picked to finish third in the conference this season. BU was a No. 4 seed in the tournament with the 4th-best regular season record (5-3).
• All 7 seniors were picked as captains this season after deciding as a class that they all wanted to take on the leadership role.
BU IN PATRIOT LEAGUE STANDINGS
• The Terriers finished third in the Patriot League regular season standings, as predicted in the preseason poll.
• In the statistical standings, BU ranks second in goals (11.7) and is third in assists (5.8). BU ranks second in points per game with 17.4 this season. The Terriers also lead the conference in shots per game (30.1) and rank second in shots on goal per game (20.8), leading to one of the most aggressive attacking team in the conference.
• Defensively, BU leads the conference in saves per game, making 9.5 on average each contest. This is thanks to Caroline Meegan, who currently ranks second the conference in save percentage (.517) and leads the league by a mile with 9.62 saves per game.
• BU's strength on attack comes from its variety of scorers, as the highest-ranking Terrier in goals per game is Mallory Collins, who ranks seventh with an average of 2.13 per game. No one on BU ranks in the top-10 in points per game.
• With 70 already this season, Jill Horka ranks second in the conference in draw controls, averaging 4.38 per game. She also ranks third in the Patriot League in caused turnovers with 1.69 per game this year.
SCOUTING THE BISON
• Bucknell finished the regular season with a 10-7 overall record, but were 4-5 in the Patriot League, finishing in sixth place in the conference and earning the final spot in the PL Tournament.
• As a team, the Bison average 12.5 goals per game, which leads the Patriot League edging out the Terriers for first place, while they have allowed 10.0 from their opponents, which ranks fifth in the conference.
• Bucknell scores nearly half of the time it gets to the cage with a .480 shooting percentage on the season, averaging 26.1 shots per game.
• Eve Lukowski leads the team in assists points with 32 and 64, respectively. Four different Bison have an incredible 50 or more points on the season including Emily Becker who has 39 goals so far this season, which ranks sixth in the Patriot League in 2016.
• Jamie DeWitt has started every game in net this season and has an 9.91 goals against average and a .448 save percentage, both of which rank fifth in the conference this season.
BU VS. THE BISON THIS SEASON
• The two teams faced off earlier this season on March 19 in the Terriers' second Patriot League conference game of the season.
• BU came away with a dominating, 17-7 start-to-finish performance which helped the Terriers remain undefeated in Patriot League action. The seven goals were the fewest the Bison scored in Patriot League action this season.
• The Terriers were led by Jill Horka, who dominated in every role, leading the team with three goals, four caused turnovers and three draw controls.
• In total, six different Terriers scored multiple goals on the day including Kaitlin Belval, Sarah Andersen and Molly Kern who each reached a career-high with two apiece.
• All 26 players on the roster saw action against Bucknell, including freshmen Ellie McKinnon, Catherine McAuley and Maddie Curley, who all made their first career appearance in the Scarlet and White.
• BU was 4-of-5 on free position shots against the Bison and caused a season-high 14 turnovers, outshooting Bucknell by an astonishing 40-20 margin.
• The Terriers were also nearly perfect on clearing attempts, successfully taking it into their offensive end 16 out of 17 tries. The Bison were not as successful, going 14-of-22 on clears.
THE PATRIOT LEAGUE PICTURE
• After securing the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League tournament, BU drew No. 6 seed Bucknell in the quarterfinal round. BU defeated the Bison, 17-7, earlier this season.
• Should BU beat Bucknell, the Terriers will face Navy in the semifinal round. Though BU suffered a tough loss at Navy earlier this season, the Terriers have defeated the Mids in the PL Semifinal game once before, taking a 13-12 victory to advance to the championship game in their first season in the Patriot League.
• With a win in the semifinal round, BU would play either Loyola or the winner of the Colgate/Lehigh game.
