Danielle Etrasco and McKinley Curro both won in the first UWLX games last weekend
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Two former Boston University women's lacrosse student-athletes played in the United Women's Lacrosse League's (UWLX) opening day on Saturday, May 28, as Danielle Etrasco and McKinley Curro each secured wins in the first-ever professional women's lacrosse games.
Played at Goodman Stadium on Lehigh University's campus, Curro totalled three points off of two scores, including a two-point goal, to help the Long Island Sound win the inaugural game, 13-12 against the Baltimore Ride.
Later in the day, Etrasco totaled five points for the Boston Storm, tied for the most points by any player in both games, to help take a 16-8 win over the Philadelphia Force.
"I had the chance to watch McKinley and Danielle compete this past weekend with their respective UWLX teams and I couldn't be more proud of the fact that BU Lacrosse was represented so well in the inaugural games of the professional women's lacrosse league," head coach Liz Robertshaw said. "They were a part of making history on Saturday and I think there's a bright future ahead for them and for the league. People are used to seeing BU alumni in professional sports like ice hockey, soccer and basketball, and now we can say the same for lacrosse – that's awesome."
These former Terriers will compete again on June 10th and 11th in Amherst, Mass. in conjunction with the IWLCA New England Cup.
