FAIRFIELD, Maine - Boston University women's basketball assistant coach Cindy Blodgett was named to the Lawrence High School Alumni Association's Inaugural Class of 2016 Hall of Fame. Blodgett graduated from Lawrence High School in 1994 and will be among the first 15 inductees in her alma mater's Hall of Fame.
"I am beyond humbled and appreciative to be inducted into the Lawrence High School Hall of fame," Blodgett said. "Some of my most precious memories as an athlete were when I wore that blue and gray uniform and represented my high school and surrounding communities. I would like to say a special thank you to all of my coaches, especially Bruce Cooper and his entire family, for all of their time and energy during my four years. I'd also like to thank all of my teammates for making each year special and unique while winning four consecutive State Championships. Lastly, I must thank my family for all of their support and unselfishness for allowing me to fulfill my dreams as student-athlete."
Among her many accolades, Blodgett was a three-time Maine Gatorade Player of the Year and led her team to four Class A State Championships while in high school before heading to the University of Maine where she was a four-time WBCA All-American and led the Black Bears to four America East Titles and NCAA appearances. She was also just the second woman in NCAA history to lead the nation in scoring for two straight seasons and finished her collegiate career with over 3,000 points.
Blodgett is Maine's leading scorer in all of high school basketball, including both boy's and girl's players, finishing her career at Lawrence High School with 2,596 career points.
Following her storied career in Maine, Blodgett went on to become a WNBA First-Round Draft Pick. She was selected sixth overall by the Cleveland Rockers in 1998, the second WNBA draft. She played in the league for four seasons and also played overseas in Korea and France before embarking on her coaching career.
