BOSTON – Selected to finish first in the Patriot League preseason poll, the defending champion Boston University women's tennis team will open the home schedule Thursday afternoon against Rhode Island. Doubles action will start things off at 3 p.m.

The Terriers (0-1) began the dual season this past Saturday with a hard-fought 7-0 loss at Dartmouth and will face a URI squad that is currently 4-1. The Rams collected wins last fall over Bryant, Providence, Siena and Monmouth before dropping a 7-0 decision at Brown.

In last year's meeting, BU claimed a 7-0 sweep against the Rams at the Track & Tennis Center en route to the program's 16th NCAA tournament appearance.
