Women's Basketball Inks Four to Class of 2022
November 8, 2017 | Women's Basketball
BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball team is set to welcome four newcomers for the 2018-19 season, as announced by head coach Katy Steding Wednesday.
Riley Childs, Audrey Nicholson, Ashley Sieper and Chiara Tibbitt each signed a National Letter of Intent and are set to join the Terriers next season. The class of 2022 spans the country, bringing in new Terriers from four different states, and brings tremendous size as all four recruits are over six feet tall.
"I'm really happy with this class we've brought together," said head coach Katy Steding. "Each year this team gets better and stronger because of the terrific athletes and people we bring to Boston. We are trying to replace a talented group of seniors, who are even better people than they are basketball players. It's challenging, but I know we've lived up to the task in bringing in four players who are all long, athletic, skilled and determined to bring championships to Boston University."
Riley Childs
6-0 | SF | Medway, Mass. | Medway
A three-sport athlete at Medway High School, Childs is a four-year starter for the basketball team and will be captaining the team for the second year in-a-row this coming season. A two-time Tri Valley League All-Star, Childs averaged 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a junior. A standout volleyball player as well, Childs has also twice captained the volleyball team and lettered all four years. This year, as a senior, Childs led Medway volleyball to one of its best regular seasons in school history with an 18-2 record. Additionally, Childs competes for the track team, where she has lettered for three seasons and broke the school shot put record last year.
Steding on Childs: "Riley is an exceptional athlete and talented young player, who brings a super-competitive and explosive style to the game. She's a smart, uptempo player who has a terrific burst of speed and a developing 3-point shot. I'm really looking forward to having her in our Terrier Family."

Audrey Nicholson
6-3 | SF/PF | Tucson, Ariz. | Catalina Foothills
A two-time letterwinner at Veterans High School in Kathleen, Georgia, Nicholson guided the team to back-to-back county championships and a runner-up finish in the Georiga State Championship as a sophomore. In addition to her talents on the court, Nicholson led the volleyball and soccer teams to postseason berths and was a 1600m region qualifier in track and field while at Veterans High School. Following her sophomore campaign, Nicholson moved across the country with her family to Tucson, Arizona, where she will finish her high school career and serve as a team captain at Catalina Foothills High School this coming season.
Steding on Nicholson: "Audrey brings us a face-up game that's pretty advanced for someone of her length, and she'll be able to stretch out defenses with her outside game. Audrey's versatility and skills on the perimeter will make her a match-up problem for many of our opponents."

Ashley Sieper
6-2 | Post | Tampa, Fla. | Tampa Catholic
As both a freshman and sophomore at Sickles High School, Sieper was a two-time first team all-district selection, and was named a Second Team All-State member in Class 7A, one of the largest divisions in the state of Florida as a sophomore. Sieper transferred to Tampa Catholic for her junior season, where she helped guide the team to the district championship this past year. ESPN HoopGurlz currently has her ranked as the No. 45 recruit at the post position in the 2018 class.
Steding on Sieper: "An interior player with an advanced and versatile face-up component, I liked Ashley's around the basket game from the first moment I watched her. She's a great finisher and a skilled scorer. I can't wait to see her game develop here as a Terrier."

Chiara Tibbitt
6-1 | Post | Somerset, N.J. | Rutgers Preparatory School
Tibbitt is a three-time letterwinner at New Jersey basketball powerhouse Rutgers Prep. She has guided the team to three straight Somerset County Championships and back-to-back state championships. Rutgers Prep has also qualified for two bids to the New Jersey Tournament of Champions, the highest-level basketball competition in the state, during Tibbitt's tenure.
Steding on Tibbitt: "Chiara is a hard-working, dedicated athlete with a great ability to play inside and out. She's someone I've watched develop every facet of her game over time. She's become a 3-point shooting, floor running, powerful in/out post who will be a real offensive and defensive threat in the Patriot League."
