WAKEFIELD, Mass. - For the fourth time in program history, three Boston University freshmen have been named to the Hockey East Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office.
Clayton Keller was the lone unanimous selection to the squad and was joined by classmates
Patrick Harper and
Jake Oettinger. BU has the most selections of any team with three, matching the school record set in 1990 (Scott Cashman, Peter Ahola, Tony Amonte) and equaled in 1992 (Rich Brennan, John Lilley, Mike Prendergast)Â and 2000 (Rick DiPietro, Freddy Meyer, Brian Collins).
Keller (19g, 21a) and Harper (12g, 22a) are the top two rookie scorers in the league this season with 40 and 34 points, respectively, becoming the seventh freshman duo in BU history to each record 30 points. The pair also sit atop the scoring list for freshmen during league play as Keller totaled 27 points (12g, 15a) and Harper added 19 (8g, 11a).
Oettinger led Hockey East in goals-against average during league games with a 2.09 and is currently second overall among league goaltenders in both goals-against average (2.06) and save percentage (.928).Â
Despite missing four conference games due to injury, Keller shared the Army ROTC Three Stars Award with Hobey Baker finalists Anders Bjork of Notre Dame and Tyler Kelleher of New Hampshire.
Oettinger was runner-up to Merrimack's Collin Delia for the Stop It Goaltending Champion award and sophomore
Charlie McAvoy was a runner-up for the '47 Brand Best Defensive Defenseman Award, which went to Notre Dame's Dennis Gilbert.
