Team USA, Robertshaw Win FIL World Cup

LONDON - The U.S. Women's National Lacrosse team, assisted by Boston University women's lacrosse head coach Liz Robertshaw, captured its third straight Federation of International Lacrosse Women's World Cup Championship after a 10-5 victory over Canada Saturday afternoon at Surrey Sports Park.
Robertshaw, now in her eighth season as an assistant coach on the national squad, earned her second World Cup gold medal with Team USA. With the win, USA capped an 8-0 record over the 10-day championship, outscoring opponents 135-37 to win its third straight World Cup crown and its eighth overall. The U.S. has also taken home gold in 1982, '89, '93, '97, '01 and '09. This is the third time Team USA has captured gold on London soil as its previous victories came in '82 and '01.
Rising senior Sarah Andersen also had an impressive performance at the championship for Team Israel, amassing two goals, three assists and five draw controls. Team Israel finished in sixth place, falling 17-13 to Scotland in its final game to finish at 6-2.
