BOSTON – Playing its first of eight scheduled home contests, the Boston University men's soccer team will host Boston College Sunday night with action slated to begin at 7 p.m. The clash between the crosstown rivals will conclude a doubleheader at Nickerson Field, as the women will meet Hofstra at 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT (recap)

The Terriers fell in their season opener on Friday night at Rhode Island, 3-0.
URI found the back of the net within the first five minutes of each half, and two of the three goals resulted with the help of free kicks.
BU was out shot, 12-7, despite owning a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
One of six Terriers to start in their debuts, St. John's transfer Michael Bernardi recorded five saves.

POLL COVERAGE

The Terriers earned 115 points in the Patriot League preseason poll for fourth place, finishing behind top selection Loyola Maryland (152), Colgate (142) and American (116) with Army West Point (93) rounding out the top five.
BU ranked No. 7 in New England Soccer Journal's preseason top-10 poll behind No. 5 Boston College and No. 6 Harvard and ahead of New Hampshire, Quinnipiac and Hartford ... Providence grabbed the No. 1 slot.

HOME OPENERS

BU is 18-11-3 (.609) in home openers under head coach Neil Roberts with a 1-6-0 mark against Boston College.
The Terriers went 7-2-1 at Nickerson Field in 2016 with non-conference victories over Dartmouth, Brown, UMass and Northeastern.

COMMONWEALTH GAMES

The Terriers are scheduled to face all six other in-state NCAA Division I programs this season starting with the Eagles Sunday night.
BU went 3-2-0 last year with wins over Holy Cross, Northeastern and UMass by a combined score of 7-1 with losses at both Boston College (3-2) and Harvard (3-1).
BU will later visit UMass Lowell for the first time since edging the River Hawks, 1-0, at home in 2015.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE

The Eagles reached the NCAA tournament last year with an at-large berth and went 1-1 with a home win over Fordham and Round of 32 loss at Albany, another scheduled opponent for the Terriers this season.
After posting a 9-9 record in 2016, BC opened the new year with a 4-0 home win over Quinnipiac on Friday night ... The Eagles scored three goals in the first half and kept the Bobcats off the scoreboard despite going down a man in the 44th minute due to a red card.
Jack Bacon recorded one save in the first half, and Chavez Borrelli posted five in the second to preserve the shutout.
Simon Enstrom finished third last year on the team with 12 points and posted three against Quinnipiac with a seventh-minute goal and assist on Joshua Forbes' 24th-minute score ... Heidar Aegisson had helpers on the final two goals.
Lasse Lehmann earned All-ACC Freshman Team honors last year as a central midfielder.

SERIES HISTORY

Boston College owns a 26-18-8 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1967.
The Eagles are 15-2-1 over the last 18 meetings, having won the previous two contests by identical scores of 3-2 ... BU last won in 2012 on the road, 1-0.
BC is on an eight-game win streak at Nickerson Field, though only one of the victories was decided by multiple goals.
