BOSTON - The Boston University women's basketball team will welcome Brown for its home opener on Monday, Nov. 12. Opening tip from Case Gym is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen live on NESN.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU dropped its season opener on the road, 81-51, to Northeastern on Friday.
- Lauren Spearman posted a spectacular season debut, leading the team with 14 points, with 12 of those coming from beyond-the-arc.
- Spearman came out firing, posting 11 points in the first half on shooting 3-of-5 from deep.
- Chiarra Tibbitt also impressed in her collegiate debut, grabbing a team-best six rebounds to go with six points on 3-of-4 shooting, and added in a pair of blocks.
- BU returns .679 percent of its scoring from a season ago, as eight members and three starters return.
- Nia Irving and Payton Hauck led the team in shooting percentage, with marks of .505 and .477, respectively last season.
- Four freshmen round out the 12-member roster for the 2018-19 season in Riley Childs, Audrey Nicholson, Ashley Sieper and Chiara Tibbitt.
- All four members of the class of 2021 are forwards and are over six feet tall.
SCOUTING BROWN
- The Bears are off to a 1-1 start after topping Central Connecticut in its opener, 68-63, but is coming off 75-57 defeat at Bryant on Thursday.
- Justine Gaziano leads the team with 20.0 points per game, and is coming off a 13-point performance against the Bulldogs.
- Gaziano has scored in double figures 46 times in 56 career games.
- Shayna Mehta follows with 14.0 points per game and holds the team lead with 8.0 rebounds per contest.
- Fifth-year head coach Sarah Behn has turned the program around, guiding the Bears to three straight winning seasons and claims a 58-57 overall record.
THE SERIES
- Brown earned its first win against the Terriers since 1998 last season, coming out on top 92-68 in Providence
- Five out of Brown's seven wins in the series have come on its home floor.
- BU is 5-1 over the last six contests with the Bears.
