GILBERT, Ariz. - Four members of the Boston University field hockey team have been named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region teams, it was announced on Monday. Senior co-captains Allie Doggett and Ally Hammel were first-team selections while sophomore strikers Ailsa Connolly and Petra Hall earned second-team accolades.
The quartet was instrumental in leading the Terriers to the Patriot League title and the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four seasons. BU finished 12-8 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference play en route to a final national ranking of No. 22.
Hammel and Doggett are repeat all-region as Hammel is on the first team for the second consecutive year while Doggett moved up to the top squad after earning second-team honors as a junior.
With a career-best 17 points on six goals and a team-best five assists, Hammel collected her second straight Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honor and participated in the NFHCA Division I Senior Game.
Doggett, who played in the midfield and as a back this season, had three goals on just six shots to go along with an assist for seven points and joined Hammel and Connolly as unanimous All-Patriot First Team honorees.
Hammel and Doggett anchored a BU defense that allowed just nine goals during conference play and held top-five teams Princeton and UConn to their second-lowest shot totals of the regular season.
As she did last year as a rookie, Connolly led the Terriers in points with 20 and shared the team lead in goals with Hall at eight. Connolly added four assists while Hall added a trio of helpers to compile 19 points on the year. Hall was an All-PL Second Team pick and tallied five game-winning goals.
Hammel was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Patriot League Championship and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Doggett and Hall.
