Women's Basketball Celebrates 2017-18 Season

BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball team held its annual awards banquet to celebrate the 2017-18 season Saturday afternoon at Boston University's Metcalf Trustee Center.
Corrine Williams, a three-year team captain, earned Team MVP honors. Williams started in 28 of 28 games played, averaging 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. The vocal presence of the team, Williams scored a career-high 22 points against Navy and registered double-digit scoring figures 11 times in her final campaign.
Naiyah Thompson earned Defensive Player of the Year for her tenacious on-ball defense. Thompson was integral in guiding BU to a .387 field goal percentage defense and a .318 3-point percentage defense.
Payton Hauck was honored as the Most Improved Player of the Year after a breakout junior season. Hauck started in 25 of 28 games played and increasing her scoring output from 3.0 to 6.9 points per game. Additionally, Hauck improved her shooting percentage from .379 percent to a .477 shooting clip.
Meghan Doogan earned Coaches Award for her tenacity, spirit and dedication to the team.
For her hard work in the classroom, Kara Sheftic was bestowed the Academic Award. A speech, language and hearing science major, Sheftic led the team with a 3.81 GPA in the fall.
