September 24, 2018 | Field Hockey
CENTER VALLEY Pa. - After having her first collegiate goal stand as the game-winner in Saturday's home victory over Colgate, freshman Rebecca Janes of the No. 21 Boston University field hockey team has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday by the league office.
Janes opened the scoring on Saturday in the 13th minute, inserting the ball off a corner before establishing position at the left post, where she redirected a pass from Miya Denison to the boards for her first tally as a Terrier. Sophomore Petra Hall added another goal in an eventual 2-0 win, giving Janes the game-winning goal
The Australia native has played a bigger role with each passing week in the BU midfield through the first half of the season and leads all BU freshmen in minutes played. This is her first Patriot League honor.
