
Men's Tennis Completes Home Slate with Wins over Siena, Sacred Heart

BOSTON – Competing in its only two home matches of the season, the Boston University men's tennis cruised to victory over both Siena and Sacred Heart on Sunday at the Track & Tennis Center.
The Terriers (2-2) opened with a 7-0 sweep against Siena (2-2) in the morning and followed the women's tennis team's 6-1 win over Providence with an identical 6-1 victory against the Pioneers (0-2).

- BU won the first two doubles matches against the Saints to claim the first point.
- Sophomore Owen Lu and freshman Max Hartenstein cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Max Stehling and sophomore Pete Siozios earned a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot.
- Stehling dropped the fewest games in his 6-1, 6-1 dominating win at line 3 singles.
- Hartenstein only lost three games at the No. 4 slot, while the Saints managed to win just four against Lu in the top singles match.
- Sophomore David Bogatin won a hard-fought first-set tiebreaker, 10-8, and then rolled to a 6-1 second-set win.
- With the team result already decided, juniors Marc Sable and J.P. Avila won their shortened singles matches by a combined score of 16-5 to complete the sweep.
- Stehling and Siozios won at No. 3 doubles a second time on the day, 6-2, and Bogatin teamed with Avila for a 6-1 victory in the No. 2 slot to give BU an early 1-0 lead.
- Siozios dropped the fewest games against the Pioneers with a quick 6-0, 6-2 win at line 5 with Stehling rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 win at line 3.
- Lu (#1), Bogatin (#2) and Hartenstein (#4) all won in straight sets to add three more points to the Terriers' total.
- SHU avoided the sweep by rallying for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory against Sable at line 6.
- The Terriers will visit the Eagles on Friday (Feb. 1) at 4 p.m.
- BC won last year's matchup, 6-1, with Siozios the lone Terrier to claim a singles point.
