WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After helping the Terriers claim three points in a weekend series with Vermont, junior David Farrance of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
After recording two assists and helping the Terrier defense blank Vermont, 3-0, on Friday, Farrance scored his nation-leading eighth power-play goal of the season in a 3-3 draw with the Catamounts on Monday.
Farrance ranks first on the Terriers this season in points (19) and goals (10) while leading Hockey East in goals in conference play with eight. His performance this past weekend allowed him to extend his current point streak to seven games, during which he has scored seven goals and added five assists.
