April 12, 2019 | Field Hockey
The Boston University field hockey family is mourning a loss as Erin Prediger '06 passed away on Thursday (April 11) after a long battle with cancer.
One of the best goalkeepers in BU history, Prediger arrived on campus in 2002 from Telford, Pennsylvania, following an accomplished career at Souderton Area High School.
Prediger played at BU from 2002-06 and earned two degrees from the College of Communication. After finishing up a bachelor's degree in public relations she stayed for a fifth season and completed a master's in journalism.
A four-year starter, Prediger tied the school record for career wins with 52 and 20 of those were shutouts. In her final two seasons she backstopped the Terriers to back-to-back America East titles and NCAA tournament appearances. She was a three-time selection to the NFHCA All-Region Second Team and in 2005 she earned America East All-Conference First Team honors after finishing seventh in the nation in goals-against average.
"The BUFHA family is deeply saddened by the passing of "Eep" (Erin Elizabeth Prediger)," said head coach Sally Starr. "She exemplified everything good about our program and was a fun-loving, caring, hardworking, compassionate and selfless teammate and friend. Words cannot begin to express how much she meant to all of us."
