"This is a well-deserved honor for these three as they have earned the opportunity to help lead our team with Logan next season," said O'Connell. "I really like the mix of personalities in this group and the common denominator is that they all bleed scarlet and are committed to winning. They will add a lot to our leadership group."
Amonte missed the entire 2019-20 season due to injury and will be a redshirt junior in terms of eligibility. Over his first two seasons with the Terriers, Amonte compiled 25 points on 14 goals and 11 assists in 73 contests. Five of his 14 tallies at BU have been game-winners.
Farrance will be the first Terrier in 23 years to be a returning Hobey Baker top-10 finalist after turning in an impressive junior campaign that saw him finish as the nation's top-scoring defenseman with 43 points (14g, 29a), which ranked sixth among all Division I players. He now has 72 points (21g, 51a) in 102 career games.
A veteran on the BU blue line, Kotkansalo has been in the lineup for all 112 games since arriving on campus in 2017. The Finland native has accumulated 25 points on a pair of goals and 23 assists over his first three seasons. He has totaled 171 blocked shots as a Terrier, including a team-best 50 this past season.
"These four will carry over and enhance the strong culture that this year's captains helped to build," added O'Connell. "A team-first and winning-first mentality that we will need to be consistent and reach our potential. I'm proud of how all four of these guys have grown and matured over the past three years and I'm looking forward to having them lead this squad."
