BOSTON – The Patriot League preseason favorite Boston University men's basketball team will open its 14-game home schedule against Gordon College on Friday evening with tip-off slated for 5 p.m.

Fans attending the men's ice hockey game at 7:30 p.m. will receive free admission with their hockey ticket, while those with a Military ID will receive free admission as part of BU ROTC/Military Appreciation Night. Free schedule magnets will be provided while supplies last.

Fans are required to follow the BU Athletics Department's Fall 2021 Fan/Visitor Policy. As of Oct. 15, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is required for all Case Center ticketed events open to the general public & BU community. For more information, click here.

TERRIER TIDBITS

Returning all five starters from this past winter, BU opened its 113th season with a hard-fought 71-62 loss at Rhode Island on Tuesday night. The contest marked the first time since 2009 that the Terriers opened a season outside Massachusetts.
The Terriers cut a 12-point deficit to as low as four down the stretch, but the Rams hit all eight free throw attempts in the final minute to seal the victory.
Graduate student and PL Preseason Player of the Year Javante McCoy tallied a game-high 19 points, while classmate Sukhmail Mathon earned 11 rebounds alongside nine points.
Senior and Lou Henson (Mid-Major Player of the Year) Award watch list member Walter Whyte recorded 11 points of his own and added a career-high four steals.
BU is scheduled to host five non-conference opponents after facing only Patriot League competition this past season. In 2019, the Terriers went 3-1 with wins over New Hampshire, Dartmouth and SUNY Poly en route to an overall 12-3 home record that include a pair of conference tournament victories.

SCOUTING GORDON COLLEGE

The Fighting Scots were selected to finish fifth out of 10 schools in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) after posting a 6-4 record this past season and 13-14 mark in 2019-20.
Gordon averaged 82.4 ppg and 45.1 FG% last winter while holding opponents to 78.5 ppg and 45.2 FG%.
6-foot-2 guard Garrett Sattazahn averaged a team-high 15.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 4.0 apg and 3.6 spg after averaging 11.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 3.4 apg his freshman season.
6-foot-11 center Parker Omslaer has averaged at least 7.0 rpg the past three seasons and double-digit points each of the last two years.
Gordon last faced an NCAA Division I squad in 2019 with a tough 86-79 loss at Hartford in which 2020 graduate Eric Demeers posted a game-high 42 points.

SERIES HISTORY

The teams are meeting for the first time in program history.
BU claimed a 69-46 win against Gordon's fellow CCC members Wentworth in 2014 (69-46) and Western New England (91-54) in 2016.

The Terriers will visit crosstown rival Northeastern on Tuesday (Nov. 16) with the NESN broadcast slated to begin at 7 p.m.
BU won its last visit to Matthews Arena in 2018 with a 77-74 victory.
