BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston University women's basketball program added another Terrier to its recruiting class for the following season, signing Russian native Anastasiia Semenova to a National Letter of Intent, Head Coach
Melissa Graves announced on Thursday.
Semenova joins Jaycie Christopher and Samantha Crispe, who previously inked their NLIs in November. For more on Christopher and Crispe,

"Anastasiia is a true competitor who has a huge love for the game," remarked Graves. "She comes from a big basketball family and has played within the high-level, competitive systems surrounding Russian hoops. She brings a ton of versatility to our program with her ability to play inside and out and at her size will create a lot of mismatches. Her aggressiveness to rebound the basketball will give her the ability to impact the game tremendously. She is eager to learn on the court, in the classroom, and immerse herself in American culture. I am thrilled to add Anastasiia to our family!"
A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Semenova will be the first rostered Terrier whose hometown is outside the United States since former All-Patriot League First Team selection and Quebec product Sophie Beaudry, who played for BU until 2018. She is set to be the program's first recruit from Russia, and the first international first-year student-athlete in the program since 2015.
Semenova is a member of the expanded Russian National U18 Team. She was an All-Star on the U16 team that captured the European Girls Basketball League championship. In her career, she has won two Russian Championship bronze medals on the U16 and U18 teams and a bronze in the Russian Women's Super League Division I. On a more localized level, she is a three-time gold medalist in the St. Petersburg Championship.
Spartak Sankt Petersburg of the Russia Superleague 1 has rostered Semenova for the past two seasons. From 2020-22, she has made 18 appearances to date for the squad across two seasons. Spartak finished third in 2020-21 after winning 21 games.
