HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Amy Thompson nearly pushed through an early score in the 8th minute, as she tried to drive a lose ball inside the six-yard box past the keeper, who stood fast for the save.
- In her first career start, junior Gretchen Bennett batted down back-to-back shots from the edge of the 18-yard box from the River Hawks to keep the clean sheet 15 minutes in.
- Junior Ashley Buck had a chance to break the stalemate in the 30th minute with a flick off a corner kick from 10 yards out, while Eileen Solomon almost polished off a transition progress with strike from 15 yards out that veered just wide of the post.
- McNulty broke through in the 38th minute, collecting a cross from Pereira and lifted a left-footed shot just under the crossbar
- UMass Lowell delivered the equalizer coming out of the break as Ioanna Papatheodarou weaved her way to the center of the 18-yard box and placed the ball just inside the right post to even the score in the 48th minute.
- From there, each team locked into physical play and neither squad recorded a shot until senior Taylor Kofton snapped a header past the frame in the 77th minute.
- Pereira had one last chance for the Terriers to reclaim the upper hand in the final 45 seconds, but her one-timer inside the six missed was blocked as the game headed into extra time.
- In 20 minutes of overtime, BU was able to launch the one shot over both frames as the match concluded in a 1-1 draw.
- Once again BU held a commanding lead in corner kicks with an 11-1 mark for the game.
- The Terriers posted a 9-4 advantage in corners at Northeastern and own a 20-5 grip over the first two contests.
- Additionally, the Terriers showed their depth as 12 student-athletes came on as substitutes for the second game in-a-row.
- BU will head to Boston College on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
