HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU's first three baskets came on three-point plays. Freshman Alex Giannaros and Johnson buried three-pointers, then Durant scored in the low paint while drawing a foul and hit the ensuing free throw.
- Navy hit six of their first eight shots to take a 12-9 lead 4:18 into the game, but the Terriers ripped off a 13-0 run in the final 5:21 of the first quarter. Johnson buried a triple and a jumper inside, then Giannaros scored the final six points to give BU a 22-12 lead heading into the second.
- The Terriers continued to nurse their 10-point edge, but started the second 1-for-8 from the field. The Mids didn't fare much better at 2-for-10. Each side had a four-minute scoring drought midway through the stanza.
- After the media timeout, Watts and Coleman connected on back-to-back three-pointers. Johnson responded with a contested floater at the foul line, only for Watts and Coleman to team up for the game's next seven points to put the Mids up 29-28.
- Shean knocked down a right-corner three in transition to reclaim the Terrier lead, but Watts beat the buzzer with a left-wing triple, handing Navy the 32-21 halftime advantage.
- BU reclaimed the lead, 36-34, on Shean's second corner triple. Coleman answered with her own three, but junior Maggie Pina nailed a three from the corner for a 39-37 Terrier edge 2:46 into the third.
- Neither side led by more than five points in the period. The Mids erased a 48-44 deficit with two Coleman jumpers inside the paint, but Weimar converted underneath on the next play, then Shean drilled a corner triple at the 1:44 mark.
- Leading 55-52 heading to the fourth, Shean scored eight of BU's first 10 points of the quarter. Her second corner three of the frame pushed her to the 20-point plateau and forced a Navy timeout with the Terriers on top 65-56 and 5:51 left to play.
- Johnson followed with a three-pointer to extend the gap to 68-56. Navy pulled with eight as the clock wound down under two minutes, but Durant finished a layup, then Weimar scored a basket while drawing a foul to turn the Mids away.
GAME NOTES
