Coulo Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After playing a huge role in the Boston University field hockey team's two-win weekend, freshman Martu Coulo has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Coulo scored two goals, including the game winner, in the Terriers' 3-2 home win over Colgate on Saturday to improve to 4-0 in league play. On Sunday, Coulo helped to set up junior Thalia Steenssens' overtime winner.
Against the Raiders, Coulo opened the scoring in the fourth minute of play by forcing a turnover in the circle and scoring in a span of three seconds. The freshman struck again later in the first quarter when she redirected a pass from junior Tess Csejka to the boards to complete the first two-goal game of her career.
The two-win weekend was capped in overtime against the Huskies as Coulo set up graduate student Casey Thompson in front and Thompson's atttempt was tipped in by Steenssens for a 2-1 victory.
This marked the third time in four weeks that a BU rookie earned this award as Amalia Preece received it on Sept. 19 and Oct. 3.
