BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After impressive performances against two ranked squads, sophomore Payton Anderson and senior Caroline Kelly of the Boston University field hockey team have received weekly honors from the Patriot League, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Anderson scored four goals last week, including her first collegiate hat trick in a win over No. 23 Maine, en route to Offensive Player of the Week accolades while Kelly combined for 25 saves over the two games to collect her second Goalkeeper of the Week award this month.
On Tuesday against the Black Bears, Anderson scored three corner goals off four shots to push the Terriers to a 5-2 victory. She added another tally against No. 21 Boston College on Sunday to raise her season goal total to eight. This is her second weekly honor of the season as she was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19.
Kelly was outstanding against Maine, making 12 saves in the victory, and then set a season high on Sunday with 13 saves against the Eagles to raise her season save percentage to .785, which ranks 13th in the nation. She was also named Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 3.
The Terriers will close out their regular season on Sunday (Oct. 30) and can clinch an outright regular-season title with a victory.
