BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Boston University women's soccer program continued to net a large presence on postseason all-league teams, as redshirt senior Amy Thompson, junior Lily Matthews, and sophomore Morgan Fagan were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. The league announced the awards on Tuesday morning.
Thompson, Matthews, and Fagan each picked up their first-career Academic All-Patriot League honors. BU's three selections paced the league in selections, and were the most since the Terriers joined the Patriot League in 2013. This is the first time the Terriers have multiple student-athletes on the team since 2014.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen are not eligible for this honor.
Thompson, in her second season with the Terriers, was an All-Patriot League First Team selection after collecting nine points off four goals and one assist in 19 starts. Three of her four scores have been game-winners, all of which came against league foes. Off the pitch, Thompson is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at BU, and will graduate in December with a degree in Sociocultural Anthropology.
Matthews also started in all 19 matches to this point, recording a goal and three assists. She was picked for the All-Patriot League Third Team, and scored in the Terriers' 3-0 triumph over Loyola Maryland in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal round. Matthews is currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, pursuing a degree in Environmental Analysis and Policy.
Fagan, an All-Patriot League Second Team member this year, currently leads the Terriers with six goals and 17 points, both of which are career-highs. Ten of her 17 points have come in the last eight contests. Fagan is studying Business Administration and Management at BU's Questrom School of Business.
BU, the third seed in the Patriot League Tournament, heads to No. 2 Bucknell for the semifinal round on Thursday (Nov. 3) at 7 p.m.
