HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greene opened the scoring just 5:39 into the proceedings with a nifty breakaway goal. He forced a turnover at the blue line and was off to the races with only Luke Pavicich (18 saves) to beat. Greene faked a shot to get Pavicich to commit before lifting a backhander into the back of the net.
- Skoog wowed the crowd with his signature move just 1:18 into the second stanza. He intercepted a clearing attempt and took the puck down low. After losing his defender behind the net, Skoog converted the lacrosse goal, his first goal of the campaign.
- Quinn Hutson extended the lead to 3-0 midway through the stanza with a wicked wrist shot on the power play.
- Greene and Quinn Hutson scored 10 seconds apart to truly put the game out of reach at 5-0. First, the line of Tuch, Greene and Hutson moved beautifully in transition, with Tuch dishing to Greene who then passed to Hutson for the finish at the right post.
- Then, off the ensuing faceoff, Hutson and Tuch combined to find Greene, whose shot ricocheted off a UMass defender and past Pavicich.
- The Minutemen closed the second stanza and opened the third period with power play goals to cut the BU lead to 5-2.
- With the UMass net empty, Brown stretched the lead to 6-2 when he fired home a long-distance shot for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
- Kaplan then added the extra point with 36 seconds remaining in regulation, knocking home a rebound off a Greene shot.
- BU is now 5-0-1 in its last six games against UMass.
- The Terriers outshot UMass, 45-23.
- Both teams went 2-for-3 on the power play.
- Greene doubled his goal, assist and point totals in one night, as he entered Friday with two goals and three assists for five points this season.
- This was the second time this season that BU scored at least seven goals, as the Terriers opened the year with an 8-2 win over Bentley on Oct. 1.
- Greene also tallied two goals in that win over Bentley.
- Brown continues to lead BU in goals (6) and points (11) after tonight while Lane Hutson (3g, 7a) notched his team-leading seventh assist off the year to join Greene (4g, 6a) in a tie for second on the squad with 10 points.
- Freshman Lachlan Getz made his collegiate debut on Friday; all six Terrier freshmen have now played this season.
- BU will conclude this weekend's series with the Minutemen on Saturday night at Agganis Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets to the game by clicking here.
