Greene Named Hockey East Player of the Week
November 14, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. - Freshman Ryan Greene of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Greene was sensational in the Terriers' weekend sweep of then-No. 11/10 UMass. On Friday in Amherst, Greene matched his career high with two goals and also added a career-best three assists as part of his career-high five-point effort in the Terriers' 7-2 win. He then opened the scoring with his third goal of the weekend in a 5-1 victory over the Minutemen on Saturday at Agganis.
A native of Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador, Greene is now tied with Matt Brown for the team lead in goals (5) and is second on the squad with 11 points (5g, 6a). No other rookie in Hockey East has more goals or points than Greene this season.
This is the second weekly honor that Greene has received from the league, as he was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Oct. 3 after his two-goal, one-assist performance in his collegiate debut against Bentley.
BU will return to action on Friday night when the Terriers host No. 18/16 Northeastern at Agganis Arena to begin a home-and-home series. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m., and fans can purchase tickets by clicking here.
