Domenick Fensore,
Wilmer Skoog and
Alex Vlasic were named Hockey East All-Stars, the league announced on Friday.
Fensore and Skoog were chosen as Hockey East Second Team All-Stars while Vlasic was an honorable mention selection. This is the first time that all three Terriers have been honored as league all-stars. BU has now placed 86 Terriers on Hockey East All-Star teams.
A Hobey Baker Award nominee, Fensore leads the league with 26 assists and is tied for 11th overall and ranks second among all league blue liners with 30 points. Fensore has also blocked 39 shots and is tied for the team lead as a plus-10. in February, Fensore led the Terriers with an incredible 10 assists, tied for second in the NCAA, and 11 blocked shots en route to being selected as the league's Defender of the Month.
Skoog has played his best hockey over the last two months, having notched a point in 11 of the Terriers' last 12 games. He has totaled nine goals and seven assists for 16 points during that span, including a seven-game point streak from Jan. 21 to Feb. 10. Skoog, who has played in all 34 games, is now tied for the team lead in points (30) and is second on the squad with 15 assists. He enters the postseason on a four-game point streak, having scored a goal in all four fixtures.
Vlasic is one of the best defensive defensemen in the conference; he leads BU with 50 blocked shots and has also tallied one goal and a career-high seven assists for eight points. He's twice tallied two assists this season and also notched a goal and an assist in the Terriers' 5-1 win at Brown on Dec. 31 when he was one of just four true defensemen in the lineup. An assistant captain who has been a leader on and off the ice, Vlasic has anchored a defense that has allowed just 1.83 goals per game during the second semester when he's in the lineup.
BU will begin its quest for a 10th Hockey East tournament title on Saturday at UConn. Puck drop at XL Center is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
