The Boston University men's lacrosse team will close out the 2022 regular season on Friday night when the No. 16/15 Terriers travel welcome No. 14/16 Army West Point to Nickerson Field. Opening faceoff is set for 8 p.m.
Prior to Friday's finale, BU will celebrate its Class of 2022. This group of seniors helped the Terriers earn three Patriot League Tournament appearances and clinched the program's first-ever Patriot League regular-season title.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU claimed that aforementioned regular-season crown thanks to a thrilling 9-8 victory at Lehigh on April 23.
- Senior Timmy Ley scored with five seconds remaining in regulation to seal the win off a pass from classmate and fellow co-captain Matt Hilburn.
- Ley finished the day with three goals to extend his NCAA-best goal scoring streak to 35 games.
- Three Terriers - junior Conor Calderone, senior Matt Garber and junior Roy Meyer - earned weekly awards from the Patriot League on Monday.
- Calderone won 13 of the 21 draws he took against Lehigh's Mike Sisselberger, who entered that contest ranked second in the nation in faceoff percentage.
- Garber made 10 saves and lowered his goals-against average to 9.87, which ranks ninth in the NCAA.
- Meyer leads the country in caused turnovers per game (3.08), having recorded four at Lehigh to push his program-record total to 40 this season.
- Junior Louis Perfetto recorded four points (1g, 3a) at Lehigh, with his second-quarter goal allowing him to become the eighth Terrier to secure 100 career points.
- Perfetto has notched three goals and nine assists for 12 points over the last two tilts.
- Junior Vince D'Alto extended his goal scoring streak to 26 games by finding the back of the net twice as part of a three-point afternoon.
- BU is one of just two schools in all of Division I men's lacrosse that boasts three players (D'Alto, Ley, Perfetto) with at least 20 goals and 20 assists.
SERIES HISTORY WITH ARMY
- BU is 2-7 all-time against Army West Point, earning an 8-7 win at Nickerson on April 7, 2018, as well as a 15-13 victory in West Point on April 6, 2019.
- Army won both meetings against BU last season, including a 12-10 triumph at Nickerson Field.
- Eight of the nine previous meetings have taken place in April.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
- Army West Point is playing for the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament; the Black Knights need a win and a Lehigh loss to secure a spot in the semis.
- They enter Friday having lost to Navy, 12-11, in OT this past Saturday, though the Black Knights did defeat then-No. 4 Cornell, 17-10, on April 16.
- Senior Brendan Nichtern is second in the NCAA in both assists per game (3.31) and points per game (5.85), having totaled 76 points (33g, 43a).
