GREELEY, Colo. – Senior Caitlin Weimar posted 14 points and seven rebounds, sophomore Anete Adler added a career-best 13 points, and the Boston University women's basketball program notched a 63-52 win over Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon at the Bank of Colorado Arena.

Trailing by one possession midway through the second quarter, BU (5-1) rattled off a 13-3 extended run in the final 5:16 of the frame, and never relinquished the lead from there. The Terriers forced the Bears (2-3) to score a season-low in points.

Senior Kelsi Mingo scored all eight of her points in the second half, while junior Alex Giannaros added seven points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Hannah Simental scored a game-high 26 points on 50 percent shooting. Leading scorer Delaynie Byrne was limited to nine points on 3-of-13 shooting.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Weimar scored BU's first four points, then freshman Audrey Ericksen canned a three-pointer from the wing for an early 7-6 Terrier advantage.
The Terrier burst extended to nine-straight points after midrange buckets from Weimar that made it 13-6 with 4:20 on the clock in the first.
A 10-2 Northern Colorado run gave the Bears a 16-15 advantage, but Giannaros canned a corner three to return the favor to the Terriers.
In the second quarter, Simental capped a 6-0 Bears spurt to give the home team a lead, but Ericksen knocked down another triple to tie the contest at 24-24.
With the score knotted at 29-29 with 2:45 until halftime, the Terriers ripped off eight-consecutive points. Adler made the first four, and Giannaros capped the run with a fastbreak layup after stealing the ball from Seneca Hackley, putting BU on top 37-29.
Layups from Weimar and Adler to open the third quarter handed BU its first double-digit advantage, 41-30, less than three minutes into the stanza.
Northern Colorado cut the gap to 43-38 midway through the third, but Mingo drilled back-to-back threes to replenish BU's lead to 49-38.
Senior Sophie Beneventine shook off a defender to connect on a jumper just inside the arc before the third quarter buzzer, making it 53-40 Terriers.
The closest Northern Colorado got to tying the score was 57-50 at the 2:40 mark following Simental's triple, but freshman Aoibhe Gormley zipped down the right lane to convert an underhanded layup on the Terriers' ensuing possession.
Mingo did the same, with her layup coming though the left lane, to boost the lead to 11 with under a minute to play.

STATS

BU shot just under 48 percent from the field, compared to just 32.1 percent for Northern Colorado.
The Terriers knocked down 10 of their 12 foul shots in the first half, and shot over 85 percent from the charity stripe overall.
BU outscored Northern Colorado 28-14 in points in the paint.
The Terrier bench accounted for 17 points.
BU set a season-high with 39 rebounds, and was plus-15 on the glass.

NOTES

Weimar paced BU in scoring for the third time this season, and the 20th time as a Terrier.
Adler reached double figures in scoring for the first time in her career. Her five field goals also marked a personal-best.
Giannaros' seven boards were a career-high.
Ericksen has now made 50 percent of her three-point tries in her last three contests.
Mingo is shooting 50 percent from the field in her last three games.
The Terriers improved to 5-0 when leading after the third quarter.
BU collected its first win in program history against a Big Sky opponent, and the first against Northern Colorado.
