WYNCHESTER, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team (5-2, 1-0 PL) topped LIU (3-3, 0-0 NEC) in a 6-1 decision on Saturday evening. In the victory, BU won on all three doubles courts and earned five out of six singles wins.
 
At the top of the doubles lineup, grad student Shelly Yaloz and sophomore Michelle Kleynerman were first to win, 6-0. Junior Victoria Carlsten and freshman Navya Vadlamudi were next to win 6-2 to seal the doubles point. Lastly, senior Erica Di Battista and freshman Emily Zhao won 7-6 in the No. 3 spot.
 
The match would be decided thanks to the top of the singles lineup on Courts 1, 2 and 3. Yaloz took the first singles point in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. She was quickly followed by her doubles partner, Kleynerman, who notched a 6-3, 6-3 win. Carlsten sealed the match win 4-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 straight-sets victory to give BU its fifth win of the season.
 
As play continued on the remaining courts, two additional Terriers emerged victorious. Junior Kaitlin Tan rallied after a close first set to win 7-6 (4), 6-2. Zhao found a similar fate in the No. 6 spot where she won 7-6 (2), 6-2. LIU got one point in the match with a win on Court 5.
 
BU will be back in action later this month on Saturday, Feb. 25, when it travels to MIT for a 10 a.m. match.
