Terriers to Host Senior Night vs. No. 5 Northeastern on Friday

BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team will close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against No. 5 Northeastern, beginning with the Terriers' Senior Night on Friday (Feb. 17) at Walter Brown Arena.

BU can still finish anywhere between fifth and eighth in the Hockey East standings and enters Friday one-point behind sixth-place Maine.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers are 4-2-3 in their past nine games and most recently earned a 7-4 win over Harvard in the Beanpot consolation game on Tuesday.
  • BU set season highs in goals (7), assists (11) and points (18) in the win over the Crimson.
  • Senior Julia Nearis ranks first on the Terriers in points (22) and goals (11).
  • Sophomore Christina Vote has 11 points (3g, 8a) in the past nine games and has 19 points on the year. 
  • Junior forwards Catherine Foulem and Lacey Martin are tied with 17 points and both of them have five goals and 12 assists.
  • Nadia Mattivi (5g, 11a) has 15 points on the year while fellow defender Brooke Disher has 10 points (4g, 6a) in the past eight contests.
  • Foulem and Vote each had the first three-point games of their careers on Tuesday.

HISTORY WITH THE HUSKIES

  • BU is 32-28-9 all time against Northeastern.
  • Ten of the last 15 matchups have been decided by two goals or fewer, including eight them resulting in either a 3-3 tie or a 2-1 scoreline.
  • The teams last met 10 days ago in the Beanpot semfinals with the Huskies earning a 4-1 victory.
  • The Terriers lost three of four contests to the Huskies last season.
  • Then-freshman Callie Shanahan secured the most saves by a BU netminder in nearly six years when she turned aside 53 shots against Northeastern on Jan. 21.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • Northeastern is ranked fifth in both national polls and enters Tuesday on a 15-game winning streak.
  • The Huskies have clinched the Hockey East regular-season title and last played on Tuesday, earning a 2-1 win at Boston College in the Beanpot title game.
  • Graduate students Alina Mueller (18-27--45), Chloé Aurard (17-27--44) and Maureen Murphy (18-25--43) have combined for 132 points and are the top three point-scorers in Hockey East.
  • Senior Katy Knoll has added 28 points (17g, 9a).
  • Senior Gwyneth Philips ranks first in the nation in both save percentage (.959) and goals-against average (0.84).
