No. 11 Terriers to Host UMass on Saturday Night

SATURDAY PARKING ADVISORY

The No. 11 Boston University men's ice hockey team will return home to host UMass on Saturday night at Agganis Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Fans will have the opportunity to purchase teddy bears for the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday. If you would like to bring a pre-purchased teddy bear, please leave the tag on. All proceeds and teddy bears will benefit the Boston Medical Center's Pediatric Unit.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU enters the weekend on a three-game win streak following a pair of victories at the Friendship Four tournament in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
  • The Terriers defeated Merrimack, 6-2, on Friday night before rallying for a 4-3 win over Notre Dame to claim the Belpot.
  • Hockey East Player of the Week Shane Lachance was named Player of the Tournament after finishing with four points (2g, 2a), including three points against the Fighting Irish.
  • Lachance assisted on junior Ryan Greene's equalizer with 4:42 remaining before scoring the winner just 20 seconds later.
  • Greene, junior Quinn Hutson and freshman Kamil Bednarik each totaled one goal and two assists for the weekend while senior Matt Copponi recorded three assists.
  • For Bednarik, his shorthanded goal was the first of his collegiate career.
  • Sophomore Gavin McCarthy lit the lamp in each game for his first two goals of the season, including a third-period strike against Notre Dame that sparked the comeback.
  • During the Terriers' three-game win streak, they have gone 12-for-13 (92.3%) on the PK and scored a shorthanded goal in each game.
  • That includes a 9-for-10 performance across the two victories in Belfast.
  • Hockey East Goaltender of the Week Mathieu Caron made 59 saves across the two wins, including 31 against Merrimack.
  • Sixteen different Terriers have lit the lamp this season, led by freshman Cole Eiserman's nine goals.

HISTORY WITH UMASS

  • The Terriers are 71-14-9 (.803) all-time against UMass in a series that began on Jan. 16, 1920.
  • BU earned its first win in program history against UMass, which was known then as Massachusetts Agricultural College, on Jan. 11, 1923, at Boston Arena.
  • The Terriers are 8-0-2 over the last 10 games against UMass, including a five-point weekend against the Minutemen in last year's home-and-home series.
  • BU is 21-3-4 against UMass at Agganis Arena, including three straight wins by a combined score of 16-5.

SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN

  • The Minutemen are 7-6-2 overall but only 1-4-2 in league play.
  • They are 3-1-0 in their last four games, including a 3-1 win over Army West Point on Nov. 29.
  • Junior Cole O'Hara is tied for the league lead with 21 points (7g, 14a) and is tied for second with 14 assists while sophomore Aydar Suniev is tied for second in Hockey East with nine goals and is tied for fifth in the league with 17 points.
  • Sophomore goaltender Michael Hrabal is 7-5-2 with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.
