TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU secured its third win in a row with a 58-56 triumph over American on Wednesday (Feb. 21) at Case Gym.
- Trailing 51-40 with six minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Terriers' defense forced the Eagles to miss eight of their final nine shots, while freshman Audrey Ericksen hit the game-deciding free throw with six seconds on the clock.
- Senior Caitlin Weimar posted 20 points, six rebounds, and five blocks, all team-highs.
- Junior Alex Giannaros nailed a trio of three-pointers in the second half to record 14 points.
- After going 0-4 in games decided by five points or less a season ago, BU is 4-4 in such contests.
- Fourteen of BU's 15 victories against Division I teams this year have been by 11 or fewer points, with 11 by single digits.
- Weimar, now third in program history with 158 blocks as a Terrier, is averaging 4.7 rejections in her last seven appearances. She has 51 blocks against Patriot League foes at 3.9 per game; the next-closest student-athlete in the conference has 32.
- Entering Friday (Feb. 23), she is one of two Division I student-athletes averaging at least 18 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game. Wisconsin's Serah Williams is the other.
- Giannaros needs three more three-pointers to match Cheri Raffo for 10th place in the Terrier record book.
- BU is 4-1 this year in the rematch against Patriot League teams, defeating American, Army West Point, Lafayette, and Navy. The lone loss came to Bucknell.
- A win would guarantee that BU finishes Patriot League play with a .500 record or better for the sixth-straight season. The Terriers have achieved that feat in conference action twice in program history.
- The Greyhounds recently suffered a 53-51 road loss at Navy on Feb. 21
- Prior, Loyola Maryland won four games in a row, ignited with a 60-47 result over first-place Holy Cross.
- Overall, Loyola has won six of its previous eight contests.
- During Patriot League play, the Greyhounds are second with 62.9 points per game on 44.2 percent shooting.
- Lex Therien is the lone Greyhound scoring in double figures with 16.7 points per game, earning Patriot League Player of the Week honors on Monday (Feb. 19) following a 44-point outburst against Lehigh on Feb. 17.
- Laura Salmerón and Kimmie Hicks are averaging 11.6 and 10.4 points per league game, respectively.
- Saturday marks the 22nd all-time meeting between BU and Loyola Maryland in a series that began in 2014.
- The Terriers sport a 15-6 edge in the rivalry, having won eight in a row and 12 of the previous 14.
- BU is 6-3 on the road at Loyola Maryland, winning five of the last six matchups.
- In the first meeting on Jan. 13, the Terriers captured a 55-48 victory in Boston.
- The Terriers led for all but 16 seconds in the game. Sophomore Anastasiia Semenova collected her first collegiate double-double at 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Weimar added 13 points, 12 caroms, and six blocks.
- BU opens a two-game homestand against Lehigh for ASL Night on Wednesday (Feb. 28). Opening tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.
