COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Former Boston University men's ice hockey standouts Jack Eichel and Charlie McAvoy were two of the first six players named to USA Hockey's roster for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, as announced on Friday.
The 4 Nations Face-Off, which is being staged in Montreal and Boston by the NHL and NHLPA, will also include Canada, Finland and Sweden. Each of the four teams will face each other in round-robin play, with the two teams having the best record competing for the 4 Nations Face-Off championship on Feb. 20 at TD Garden.
BU is the only school in the country to have two former players be selected to either of the four rosters. In addition, Mike Sullivan ('90) will serve as head coach while John Hynes ('97) has been named as an assistant coach.
Eichel, the 2015 Hobey Baker Award winner and a Stanley Cup champion last season with Vegas, has totaled 211 goals and 303 assists for 514 points in 539 NHL regular-season games. McAvoy, a 2017 First Team All-American, has recorded 53 goals and 224 assists of 277 points in 454 NHL regular-season games, all with the Boston Bruins. They are both alternate captains of their respective clubs and have combined to represent the United States at 13 major world championships, claiming seven medals between them.
