Women’s Basketball Opens PL Play Against Navy on Wednesday

BOSTON – Closing out the 2025 calendar year, the Boston University women's basketball program ignites Patriot League play on Wednesday (Dec. 31), hosting preseason favorite Navy. Opening tip at Case Gym is set for 2 p.m.
BU (4-7) hosts its fourth Patriot League lidlifter under fifth-year head coach Melissa Graves. The Terriers are 7-5 in conference openers since joining the Patriot League for the 2013-14 campaign.
Navy (6-5) enters the league slate having lost five of its last six games against Division I opponents. The Mids are 1-3 on the road this year, with their lone victory taking place at Delaware in the season opener.
Wednesday's game airs on ESPN+ with Brian Maurer (COM'07), Reed Keller and Claire Chen on the call. Live statistics and an audio-only broadcast are available through GoTerriers.com while the Patriot League provides an international stream.

- BU concluded non-conference play with a 103-32 victory over USCAA small college foe UMaine Fort Kent back on Saturday (Dec. 20).
- Sophomore Allison Schwertner led the Terriers with her second career double-double, pouring in 23 points and 12 rebounds.
- Classmate Rose Azmoudeh tied the program single-game record with seven three-pointers en route to a career-high 21 points.
- In addition to its win over the Bengals, the Terriers also defeated Northeastern, New Haven and UMass Lowell during the out-of-league schedule.
- BU is 2-3 at home this year. Since the start of the 2019-20 season, the Terriers are 49-13 against Patriot League opponents, postseason included, at Case Gym.
- Seven Terriers are averaging at least five points per game. Senior Anete Adler paces the squad with 12.2 points per contest.
- As a team, BU ranks top three in the Patriot League in scoring defense (59 points allowed per game), field goal percentage (41.2 percent), opponent field goal percentage (38 percent), three-point percentage (32.7 percent), rebounds per game (33.8) and blocks per game (3.36).
- Adler's 16 blocks leads the conference while her 12.2 points per game ranks 12th.
- Junior Bella McLaughlin is sixth with 3.4 assists per game.
- Three Terriers rank in the top 10 in three-point percentage. Junior Inés Monteagudo Pardo leads the Terriers at a 42.9 percent clip.
- The Mids most recently fell to South Florida on Dec. 21, 86-74.
- Navy defeated SEC opponent Florida in Annapolis, Md. back on Nov. 16, 69-54.
- Preseason Patriot League Player and Defensive Player of the Year Zanai Barnett-Gay leads the team with 17.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
- Zoe Mesuch and Julianna Almeida average 11.4 and 10.2 points per game, respectively.
- Navy was projected to finish first in the Patriot League preseason poll, garnering 71 total points.
- Last season, the Mids went 11-7 in Patriot League play and 19-12 overall, reaching the Patriot League quarterfinal round while earning a bid to the WNIT.
- Wednesday marks the 24th all-time meeting between BU and Navy in a series that began in 2011.
