Women’s Basketball Treks to No. 11 UNC on Sunday

BOSTON – In its longest road trip of the 2025-26 season, the Boston University women's basketball program heads to No. 10/11 North Carolina on Sunday (Dec. 7). Opening tip is set for noon.
BU (3-5) faces off against a Top 25-ranked opponent for the fourth time in head coach Melissa Graves' tenure. The Terriers play an ACC foe for the fifth time under her watch as well.
North Carolina (8-2) returns to Chapel Hill for its first home contest since Nov. 23. The Tar Heels have won 31 consecutive non-conference contests at Carmichael Arena.

- BU started its road swing with a 54-45 loss at Maine back on Monday (Dec. 1).
- The Terrier defense allowed less than 60 points for the sixth time in eight games this season, but BU's 45 points were a season low.
- Sophomore Hildur Gunnsteinsdóttir paced the Terriers with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
- Classmate Allison Schwertner scored 10 points off the bench.
- BU squares off against a team ranked in the top 10 in a national poll for the third consecutive year. The Terrier visited No. 2 UConn, who went on to win the national championship, in 2024 and No. 7 Colorado in 2023.
- The Terriers trailed the Buffaloes 55-51 after three quarters in their matchup on Nov. 28, 2023 before falling 85-55.
- Under Coach Graves, BU has played ACC foes Boston College (twice), Georgia Tech in 2021 and Miami in 2022.
- Overall, BU is 4-17 vs. ACC foes. All four victories have been against Boston College.
- The Tar Heels are ranked 10th in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll and 11th in the Associated Press poll.
- UNC most recently fell to No. 2 Texas, 79-64, on Thursday (Dec. 4) as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge.
- Indya Nivar paces North Carolina with 12.6 points per game, 37 assists and 42 steals this year. Ciera Toomey averages 11.6 points and seven rebounds per game.
- UNC was projected to finish third in the ACC Preseason Poll behind Duke and NC State.
- Last year, the Tar Heels posted a 29-8 record, advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament following wins over Oregon State and West Virginia.
- Sunday is the first all-time meeting between BU and North Carolina.
- This is the Terriers' first trip to the state of North Carolina since 2007, when it competed against UNCG and North Carolina A&T in the UNC Greensboro Tournament.
