No. 10/8 Terriers Trek to No. 9 UConn Tuesday for Top-10 Tilt

The No. 10/8 Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its 103rd season on Tuesday when the Terriers travel to No. 9 UConn for a top-10 tilt. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tuesday's game will streamed on ESPN+ and an audio-only broadcast will be located here.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers enter Tuesday in third place in the Hockey East standings, eight points ahead of UConn and four points back of second-place Maine.
- BU most recently split a weekend series with Northeastern, rebounding from a 5-1 home loss on Friday to defeat the Huskies, 3-1, on Saturday at Matthews Arena.
- Freshman Cole Hutson scored the game-winning goal on Saturday and also had the primary assist on sophomore Shane Lachance's empty-netter.
- Hutson is tied for second among NCAA defensemen with 23 assists and is third among the nation's blue liners with 32 points.
- He also leads all freshmen defensemen with nine goals.
- Junior Quinn Hutson enters Tuesday on a four-game point streak (2g, 3a) and has notched a point in seven of his last eight games, totaling 12 points (6g, 6a) in that stretch.
- Quinn Hutson has exceeded last year's career-best point total of 36 thanks to a team-leading 18 goals to go along with a career-high 20 assists.
- Since he made his NCAA debut on Jan. 25 at Boston College, freshman Mikhail Yegorov leads all goalies who have played in at least nine games with a .930 save percentage and a 1.98 goals-against average.
- In four fixtures against top-10 teams, Yegorov owns a 1.67 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 17-9-2 (.643) all-time against UConn, having won five straight games against the Huskies.
- That includes a 4-2 home win at Agganis Arena back in October.
- Last year, the Terriers earned a 6-1 win in Storrs on Feb. 23 before shutting out the Huskies, 6-0, at Agganis the next night.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE HUSKIES
- BU defeated UConn, 4-2, on Oct. 18, 2024.
- Freshman Cole Eiserman tied the game at 1-1 just 1:22 into the second period before classmate Brandon Svoboda scored his first collegiate goal with 3:35 to play in the middle frame.
- Eiserman's third-period strike proved to be the game-winner, giving BU a 3-1 lead just nine seconds into a power play.
- Sophomore Tom Willander added an insurance goal with 2:17 remaining in regulation to create the 4-2 final.
- Co-captains Ryan Greene and Shane Lachance assisted on Eiserman's game-winner, two of the eight different Terriers to record an assist.
- Seniors Tristan Amonte and Jack Hughes, junior Devin Kaplan, sophomore Jack Harvey and freshmen Kamil Bednarik and Alex Zetterberg all had one helper apiece.
- Senior goaltender Mathieu Caron made 24 saves.
SCOUTING UCONN
- The Huskies enter the weekend on a three-game win streak and are currently fourth in the league standings, eight points behind third-place BU.
- UConn is a near-lock for the NCAA Tournament, entering Tuesday ranked eighth in the PairWise, one spot behind BU.
- After earning a 5-2 win over Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 12, the Huskies were off until earning a 3-2 overtime win over then-No. 4 Maine on Friday in Storrs.
- Sophomore Jake Richard scored twice against the Black Bears, including in OT.
- Sophomore Joey Muldowney leads UConn with 19 goals and 33 points while graduate student Hudson Schandor paces the Huskies with 23 assists.
- Freshman Callum Tung made 32 saves in the win over Maine to improve to 6-3-1 on the season.
- Tung owns a 2.16 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
- Junior Tyler Muszelik has made 18 starts this season, going 10-5-2 with a 2.36 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
- Neither Tung or Muszelik played against BU back in October.
