No. 8 Terriers Set for Friday Night Tilt at Merrimack

The No. 8 Boston University men's ice hockey team will return to Hockey East play on Friday night when the Terriers travel to Merrimack. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU enters the weekend having won two straight games, including a 7-1 victory over Harvard on Monday night in the opening round of the Beanpot.
- That came off the heels of a 7-2 win over New Hampshire on Friday night at Agganis Arena.
- BU is one of just two teams in the nation this season to score seven or more goals in back-to-back games.
- Freshman Cole Hutson matched his career best with four points on two goals and two assists in Monday's win.
- Junior Devin Kaplan scored a season-high two goals while sophomore Shane Lachance, junior Quinn Hutson and sophomore Jack Harvey also lit the lamp during a five-goal second period.
- Q. Hutson has recorded six points in the last two games, notching a goal and an assist in Monday's win over Harvard and notching his third career hat trick as part of a four-point night against UNH.
- He is one of just four players in the country and the only Hockey East skater to have 16 goals and 16 assists.
- C. Hutson, has notched a point in eight of his last nine games, totaling five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in that span.
- He leads all NCAA freshmen defensemen as well as all Hockey East defensemen, regardless of class, in points (26) and assists (19).
- Freshman Cole Eiserman leads all NCAA rookies with 15 goals.
- Freshman goaltender Mikhail Yegorov improved to 2-1-0 since joining the Terriers at the end of January, making a career-best 26 saves against the Crimson.
- He made 23 saves in his collegiate debut on Jan. 25 at No. 1 Boston College and has allowed just one even-strength goal in his three appearances.
SERIES HISTORY WITH MERRIMACK
- BU and Merrimack have played 132 times since first meeting on Dec. 11, 1964, and the Terriers hold a commanding 99-25-8 (.780) advantage.
- The Terriers recorded the first 14 shutouts in the series until the Warriors blanked BU for the first time ever during the 2018-19 season.
- The Terriers have won six straight games against Merrimack dating back to the 2023 Hockey East title game.
- In the last five wins, the Terriers have outscored the Warriors, 28-8.
- That includes a pair of wins this season - a 6-3 home triumph on Nov. 22 and a 6-2 victory in Belfast on Nov. 29.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Merrimack is in seventh place in the Hockey East standings entering this weekend, just five points back of fifth and the final bye to the quarterfinals.
- The Warriors lost twice last weekend, falling 4-2 at UMass on Jan. 31 before a 3-2 defeat at UMass Lowell on Feb. 1.
- Junior Seamus Powell was named Hockey East Defender of the Month for January.
- He leads the Warriors in points (15) and assists (12), with nine of those points (1g, 8a) coming this past month.
- Junior defenseman Zach Bookman is second on the squad with 13 points (3g, 10a) while sophomore David Sacco leads Merrimack with eight goals in 17 games.
- The Warriors started two different netminders this past weekend.
- Junior Nils Wallstrom (4-5-0) made 23 saves on Friday at UMass.
- He owns an .881 save percentage and a 3.24 goals-against average this season.
- Freshman Max Lundgren (5-8-0) made 32 saves at UMass Lowell.
- Lundrgen has a .903 save percentage and a 3.09 GAA this season.
