May 1, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Will Barnes of the Boston University men's lacrosse team was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced on Thursday.
BU has now placed at least one Terrier on each of the last nine Academic All-Patriot League teams dating back to 2016. Barnes is the seventh different Terrier to receive this recognition, with BU combining for 13 Academic All-PL selections since 2016. He also continues a long tradition of Terrier goalies being named to the Academic All-PL squad, as Barnes is the fourth BU netminder to receive this recognition. In fact, all of the Terriers' primary starting goalkeepers throughout their 12-year history have been named to the Academic All-PL Team.
Barnes, who earned a 3.27 GPA as an advertising major in the College of Communication, has been outstanding both in the classroom and on the field. A two-time Second Team All-Patriot League honoree, Barnes ended the regular season ranked sixth in the country with a .598 save percentage and eighth in the NCAA with an 8.76 goals-against average. A five-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, Barnes averaged 12.43 saves per game, good for 14th in the nation and third in the conference.
A native of South Riding, Virginia, Barnes made a career-best 23 saves in a 12-7 triumph over Lehigh on April 19 and made what was then a career-high 22 saves, including a fantastic stop in overtime, in the Terriers' 10-9 win at then-No. 2/3 Army West Point on March 22. Barnes shut out Holy Cross during his entire 45 minutes of work on March 29 thanks to 10 saves, one of his 11 efforts of 10 or more saves.
