The No. 15/17 Boston University men's lacrosse team will travel to Yale on Saturday afternoon. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ beginning at 12 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU improved to 2-1 on Sunday with a 13-5 win over Dartmouth at Nickerson Field.
- The Terriers went wire-to-wire, holding Dartmouth scoreless for the first 38:20 of the game as they built an 11-0 lead.
- Freshman Peyton Forte scored a career-high five goals and sophomore Timothy Shannehan notched six points (2g, 4a).
- Shannehan leads BU in goals (9), assists (10) and points (19).
- He is averaging 6.33 points per game, which ranks third in the nation and first in the Patriot League.
- Shannehan also ranks seventh in the nation in assists per game (3.33).
- Forte is tied with Shannehan for the team lead in goals.
- Only four freshman are averaging more goals per game this season than Forte.
- Senior Connor Kehm was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after he set new career highs with five caused turnovers and 10 ground balls.
- Kehm, who was also named to the USILA Team of the Week, is just the fourth player since 2005 to have 10+ ground balls and 5+ caused turnovers in the same game.
- Junior LSM Donald Varnerin's 60-yard goal against Dartmouth was the No. 4 play on SportsCenter the following morning
- He has scored a goal in all three games this season.
- The Terriers rank second in the nation through three games, holding opponents to a .654 clearing percentage.
- BU is fifth in the NCAA in ground balls per game, averaging 40.0 ground balls over the first three games.
HISTORY AGAINST YALE
- BU is 0-3 against Yale, with the teams meeting each April from 2022-24.
- The Terriers have hosted the Bulldogs twice, including in 2024 when they battled then-No. 8/9 Yale to an 18-16 defeat.
- BU lost to Yale in its only visit to Reese Stadium, a 17-14 defeat in 2023.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Yale improved to 1-1 with a 15-9 home win over Marist on Tuesday after falling to Army West Point, 12-6, on Saturday.
- Freshman Sean Grogan scored four goals against the Red Foxes and he currently leads Yale with five goals.
- Sophomore Connor Gately leads Yale with four assists, all of which came against Marist.
- He also found the back of the net on Tuesday and is tied for the team lead in points with Grogan, as both Bulldogs have six points.
- Sophomore Nick Wehmeyer is 20-of-38 at the faceoff X and is tied with junior LSM Luke Michalik for the team lead in ground balls with seven.
- Senior goalkeeper started against Army West Point and made seven saves in the 12-6 loss.
- Sophomore Ben Friedman got the start in the 15-9 win over Marist and made seven stops.
