February 15, 2026 | Men's Lacrosse
BOSTON - Freshman Peyton Forte scored a career-high five goals and senior Connor Kehm set new career bests with five caused turnovers and 10 ground balls to help lead the No. 19/20 Boston University men's lacrosse team to a 13-5 win over Dartmouth on Sunday at Nickerson Field.
BU improved to 2-1 thanks to another stout defensive effort. The Terriers held Dartmouth (0-1) scoreless until there was 6:40 remaining in the third quarter, building an insurmountable 11-0 lead. The Big Green scored four straight goals in the third quarter to try and keep things interesting, but Forte beat the buzzer for his fifth and final goal of the night to end the run and stop Dartmouth's momentum.

Senior Jimmy Kohr recorded a hat trick and classmate Sam Burns notched one goal and one assist. Junior LSM Donald Varnerin had the highlight of the day when he scored from his own half of the field. He also had two caused turnovers and one ground ball. Junior Logan Styles assisted on Varnerin's goal in addition to totaling three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Junior Tyler Fox, sophomore Ben Morris, junior Jackson Matthews and sophomore Andrew Pape all had one assist apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a defensive battle for the first half of the opening quarter until Shannehan found Kohr with a skip pass and Kohr beat Max Becker (18 saves).
- Forte then made it 2-0 at 5:47 of the first quarter before Varnerin's long-distance beauty tripled the lead to 3-0 at 3:49.
- Rooney closed the quarter with a goal to put BU ahead 4-0 after 15 minutes.
- Forte's second of the day just 1:55 into the second quarter pushed the advantage to 5-0, and after Shannehan scored to make it 6-0, Forte followed that with a goal to send the Terriers to halftime with a 7-0 lead.
- Forte's fourth goal of the day opened the second half, with a terrific individual effort by Burns then making it 9-0.
- Just 21 seconds after Burns' goal, Matthews found Kohr in an unsettled situation to make it 10-0.
- Shannehan struck for the second time to make it 11-0 before Dartmouth went on its 4-0 run.
- Forte erased all doubt with his buzzer beater. Burns did well to hang onto the ball and get it to Forte just in time for the freshman to beat the horn.
- Each team found the back of the net in the final quarter to complete the scoring.
- BU has not allowed a first-quarter goal in either win this season and has allowed just two first-half goals in those two triumphs.
- Eight of Forte's nine goals have come over the last two games.
- Shannehan and Forte both lead BU with nine goals while Shannehan paces BU in assists (10) and points (19).
- Kehm now leads the Terriers with 21 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
- Varnerin has scored a goal in all three games this year.
- BU is averaging 14.67 caused turnovers a game and 40.0 ground balls per game.
- The Terriers are also holding opponents to a .654 clearing percentage through three tilts.
- BU will hit the road to face Yale on Saturday, Feb. 21.
- Opening faceoff is set for 12 p.m.
