BOSTON – Hosting its first contest of 2026, the Boston University men's basketball team will welcome defending Patriot League champion American to Case Gym on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip.
The Eagles are on the road after closing out 2025 with an 84-69 home win over Loyola Maryland. Last season, they hoisted the trophy thanks to a 74-52 victory against Navy, who held off BU (82-77) this past Wednesday as the PL preseason favorite.

- BU wrapped up non-conference play with an 88-76 home win against UMass Lowell on Dec. 21.
- In that win, sophomore Ben Defty totaled 18 points and five rebounds, while freshman Sam Hughes tallied 16 points. Freshman Chance Gladden added 12 points alongside seven assists, and graduate student Malcolm Chimezie came up one rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points.
- Defty currently leads BU at 6.1 rpg with 12.9 ppg, and Gladden is averaging a team-high 3.8 apg alongside 12.2 ppg thanks to his 26-point performance against the Midshipmen.
- Junior Michael McNair remains the leader at 15.3 ppg, shooting 47.4 percent from behind the arc en route to 46 3-pointers.
- The Terriers are 3-2 at Case Gym this season with the two other wins coming against Brown and VTSU Johnson.
- BU went a perfect 9-0 in regular season play against Patriot League programs.
- As a team, BU is averaging 74.8 ppg and 48.6 FG% while holding opponents to 76.1 ppg and 47.9 FG%.
- AU is 0-5 on the road compared to the 8-1 home record with three losses against major conference opponents, including 80-71 loss at Rutgers and 88-74 defeat at Wake Forest, and two more defeats to the Atlantic 10.
- The Eagles have notable home wins over Penn (84-78), Maine (74-61) and Drexel (75-73).
- Three Eagles are averaging double figures in points with 6-foot-5 freshman guard Madden Collins owning a team-high 12.9 ppg and 1.9 spg.
- Both 6-foot-6 junior forward Greg Jones (11.9 ppg) and 6-foot-4 sophomore guard Wyatt Nausadis (10.0 ppg) are also in double figures.
- AU is averaging 79.7 and 45.8 FG% while holding opponents to 74.6 ppg and 46.2 FG%
- The Terriers lead, 16-10, in a series that dates back to 1997 after the home team won both matchups last season.
- BU defeated the Eagles, 60-54, last January with McNair scoring 20 but then came up short on the road, 48-44, in February with the two rivals finishing under 35 percent shooting.
