Hutson, Yegorov Earn Hockey East Weekly Awards
March 2, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. - Sophomores Cole Hutson and Mikhail Yegorov of the Boston University men's ice hockey team earned weekly awards from Hockey East, the league announced on Monday.
Hutson was named Hockey East Defender of the Week and Yegorov took home Hockey East Goaltender of the Week accolades. Both men were terrific in the Terriers' weekend sweep of No. 10/11 Boston College.
Selected as the No. 1 star following both contests, Yegorov had his best weekend of the season against the Eagles. He stopped 52 of the 54 shots he faced over the weekend, including several grade-A opportunities. Three of his best saves on Saturday came against the league's leading scorer, James Hagens, including a second-period breakaway bid to keep the Terriers in front, 2-1. This is the third time this season that Yegorov has allowed one goal or fewer in back-to-back games.
Hutson tallied three primary assists in the weekend sweep, including two helpers in Saturday's 5-1 win at BC. Hutson set up the game-winning goal on both nights and also had a shorthanded assist to give BU a 3-1 lead early in the third period at BC. The Hobey Baker nominee enters the final weekend of the regular season with 30 points on nine goals and 21 assists. Hutson has notched 20+ assists and 30+ points in each of his first two seasons at BU.
