Lauro, O'Brien Earn Preseason All-Patriot League Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Senior Nicole Lauro and graduate student Caroline O'Brien of the Boston University field hockey team received Preseason All-Patriot League honors, the League announced Thursday morning.
The reigning Patriot League tournament champions, the Terriers were picked to finish third in the Patriot League preseason poll. They garnered 27 points, including one first-place vote, and were picked behind American (35 points) and Lafayette (30).
Lauro, a Buenos Aires, Argentina native, has not missed a game for the scarlet & white in her three years with the program. She was an All-Patriot League Second Team honoree in 2024. In 2025, she ranked second on the Terrier roster in goals (6) and third in points (12). Her game-winning goal in the Patriot League semifinal against top-seeded American pushed the eventual champions to the title game. This is her second straight season earning this honor.
O'Brien, a Devon, Pennsylvania native, is the reigning Patriot League Championship MVP after becoming the first player to ever score a hat trick in the Patriot League title game. She was an All-Patriot League First Team and NFHCA All-Region Second Team honoree in 2025 and led the Terriers in points (37), goals (15), assists (7) and shots (64). Her goals and points totals led the entire Patriot League. This is her first career Preseason All-Patriot League accolade.
The Terriers will kick off the season on Friday, Aug. 28, as they host Merrimack at New Balance Field at 4 p.m.
